I feel really bad that how much time I did waste with Blogspot in my earlier days of blogging.
Still some more reasons to avoid Blogspot yet to come below to avoid blogspot using.
9. Most of the .Blogspot type’s blogs are loaded with Spam
One of the grey hat methods is creating web 2.0 for link building (web 2.0 are called ‘free blogging platforms’.)
Here in the grey hat link strategies, they’ll create a free .blogspot blog and fill some content on there and offer links to their actual website. This is one of the popular and easy way to get backlink, however, it would be an artificial type. Because using web 2.0 grey hat method backlinks are overused tactics in terms of Search Engine Optimization.
Few bloggers may think that getting backlinks from web 2.0 method is really effective. Not at all, Google may penalize your blog at any time.
I’ve seen in my experience that there are many blogs that got penalized by Google for using web 2.0s backlink strategies.
You can check if your blog has any manual action issued against it by checking the manual action history.
If a website or blog has a ‘manual action’ the blog will not be shown in the Google Search Results.
Seriously, moving .blogspot to custom domain is the best way to become a successful blogger.
10. Migrating to a Custom Domain is Nightmare
Most of the people starting Blogspot, because they think they don’t have web development skills. But this is not an acceptable reason, because latest digital technologies helped people to start a blog without having technical knowledge.
Come back to my old story that I’d written many content on my blogspot platform. Now it’s the time to move my blogspot blog to a custom blog and I got to know that a custom blog is always great.
But I had no idea how to migrate the content to a custom hosting blog. Copying data from blogspot and pasting it over custom blogs is a huge headache. However it may tend to lead to some negative seo if any.
Even if you have done your migration from blogspot to WordPress custom hosted blog successfully, still your blog will suffer for a while in terms of SEO performance. 301 redirects are supposed to transfer 100% of SEO performance and site authority, but it won’t happen practically.
These all can be avoided if you start your blogging career with WordPress Custom Hosting blogging.
You cannot do marketing, branding, advertisement and affiliate marketing with blogspot.
11. You’re NOT Fully Dedicated
People will not care much when they get a thing for free of cost. Same way, if you’re using a free blogging platform you’ll not commit yourself completely.
When you lose your money, you’ll get more serious on the tasks. How do I say this? I did not work well when I was blogging with free blogging; however I did not earn much from Blogspot.
I was so active when I decided to buy a custom domain, as I need to pay for hosting every month and annual pay.
Don’t take this a financial advice from me. This was my experience. I started working very actively and seriously when I bought my domain name from “Google Domains“.
Bloggers will work dedicatedly when they pay money for domain and web hosting.
When you spend money for blogging, obviously you’ll look for many ways to make money blogging. This was the key for me to make money from blogging and it worked for me.
12. Lack of Support
Support is one of the major and important factors of all business ventures. Support is the best place of guidance and adding more that it’ll act as a security net.
There is very limited support from Blogspot and existing forums also loaded with basic guides and documentation. Having live support and the latest support document is pretty good. Thankfully, WordPress has online-documentation, chat room and community forums.
Conclusion
My intention is not to provide negative views about Blogspot, just to list out the reasons to avoid Blogspot. I wanted to be honest, when I moved my blogging to Google Domains, my blogging life changed and I was able to start making money from my Google Domain.
