Recently released Windows 10 introduces a feature called Defer Update.
One of the best features from Windows 10 is called ” Defer upgrades“. This option or feature delays feature upgrades for many months. But It will allow you to install all other security updates.

What is Defer Update?
Defer Updates allows the Windows 10 users to delay the download and installation of the new features for several months which is happening through Windows Update.
Defer Updates is intended for the Professional users and Business Users, who want to wait for a bit longer before testing the new feature.
Because there would always be some risks of installing beta updates or incompatible updates.
This may cause the system to fail to start which will affect the entire business.
How to enable Defer Update in Windows 10
- Click Start > Settings > Update & Security
- Now Go to Windows Update > Advanced Options
- Tick / enable the Defer Updates Check-box as shown in below image.
Keen in mind that this will not prevent Windows 10 from installing the latest security patches / updates.
How long Windows Defer Update can be delayed?
We know that defer upgrades will delay the upgrades for several months. But it’s unclear how many months these windows upgrades will be differered.
It’s sure that you can not defer the upgrades indefinitely.
